Inauguration Ceremony of the Basic Literacy Project for 18,000 Beneficiaries in Gangni Upazila

The Basic Literacy Project (64 District Program) has officially been inaugurated in Gangni Upazila of Meherpur District. The project is being implemented by Subah Samajik Unnayan Sangstha, with support from the Bureau of Non-Formal Education under the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education.

Dignitaries Present at the Inauguration:

 

✅ Chief Guest: Honorable Deputy Commissioner of Meherpur District
✅ Special Guest: Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO), Gangni Upazila
✅ Local public representatives, education officials, and members of Subah Samajik Unnayan Sangstha

 

Key Objectives of the Project:

 

📌 Provide basic education to the illiterate population
📌 Ensure literacy and numeracy skill development
📌 Create equal access to education for both men and women
📌 Deliver life-relevant education for daily use

 

Project Structure:

 

📌 300 learning centers established
📌 Two shifts of classes for flexible access
📌 600 trained teachers employed
📌 18,000 total learners

  • 9,000 male learners
  • 9,000 female learners

 

Inaugural Remarks:

 

The Deputy Commissioner stated:

“This literacy development initiative will not only open doors to education but will also play a vital role in improving the overall quality of life. We aim to significantly increase the literacy rate in Meherpur through this project.”

The UNO of Gangni added:

“If successfully implemented, this project will empower illiterate individuals, enabling them to become self-reliant and actively participate in economic activities.”

This initiative is expected to make a significant contribution to raising literacy levels and combating poverty in Gangni Upazila, serving as a transformative step toward community development.
